Hybrid mini photo book

This month we are making a hybrid (combining digital and paper scrapbooking) mini book. This class uses a Photoshop/Elements template that I created to add 16 landscape digital photos onto an A4 sheet. This is printed and then folded to create the pages of the photo book. Covers are then decorated and added.

If you are unable to come to this class, the template and instructional video can be purchased here for instant download.

July crafting workshop and class - mini-people

The class this month is using Sizzix dies to make mini-people that match the people in photos. These are a great way to enhance a page and are fun to make.

Here is an example from a page I made about Roger's hockey playing:

And another example from a page about my nephew helping to cook (a very much younger nephew than he is now!):

The class takes place on Saturday 5th July from 10am to 1pm and costs £3 in addition to the normal workshop fee and includes a set of templates so you can make more people at home. Please contact me if you would like to book a place.

Free prints

I have just discovered a great new app for my phone (I have an iPhone but is also available for Android) called FreePrints. You can print photos straight from your phone for free - you just pay postage (which starts at £1.99 and is never more than £3.99). You can print photos you have taken on your phone or those you have uploaded to Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Flickr and Picasa - so I'm looking forward to also printing those I have taken with my DSLR.

Each month you get 45 4x6 photos for free - these have to be 45 different photos as you can't get multiples of the same photo. Photos can be gloss or matt and you can also pay for other sizes.

When I signed up I got 10 photos for free with free postage so I decided to give it a try and see what I the quality was like. I used photos of Briony taken on my phone. Briony loves looking at photos of herself so I planned on putting them in a cheap flip album for her so was not too worried if the quality was rubbish. However, they came yesterday and I am really pleased with the quality. They are just as good as the ones I usually get from Photobox, Snapfish or Boots. I also find it really hard to get enough photos to print at these places, as you now have to print 500 at a time in order to get them at a decent price (or pay upfront for them). I will definitely be using this app regularly as 45 a month is plenty of photos to put in a scrapbook at the workshops each month!

If you decided to try the app please use my invite code vhibbins1 so that I can earn some bonus prints and you'll also get 5 bonus prints. Thanks!

General workshop information

Workshops are open to all crafters of any ability.

Workshops are held at North Tuddenham Village Hall (directions can be found here) usually on the first Saturday of the month (check dates here).

The workshops run from 10am to 5pm and you can come for the morning (10am to 1pm), the afternoon (1pm to 5pm) or all day.

Cost: morning £5, afternoon £7 and all day £10
This cost includes unlimited tea and coffee and use of an extensive range of paper crafting tools including die cutting machines and dies, punches, templates etc, and any help you might need.

There is often a morning class - learning a technique, making borders, mini-books etc. These have a fee for materials in addition to the workshop fee. They are usually scrapbooking or paper craft related as this is what the majority of crafters come to do. However other classes are possible just let me know what you might be interested in doing.
